Taking the Perfect Pictures

Even though your photo's are the most important tool on your profile, YOU DO NOT NEED TO SPEND MONEY ON PROFESSIONAL HEADSHOTS.  Well lit, clear pictures with no distractions will work fine.    Make sure the picture looks like you.  No selfies, no filters, no glam shots.  You will need a front of face picture, side face, back, and a full length shot.

Make sure your pictures are CURRENT.  If there is a change to your look, (hair length, hair colour, facial hair, etc.) it is in your best interest to update your pictures on your profile.  It is also important that you keep your pictures as up-to-date as possible.

How To Take Your Front Face Shot

THE DO's

  • Well Lit

  • Clear

  • Nice natural make-up

  • Solid background that is not too bold or bright coloured

This picture was taken in my apartment.  I used natural sunlight as my lighting, and a blue curtain as my solid backdrop. A solid not bold coloured wall or door can also be used.  Because I was alone, to ensure a nice steady picture, I used a tripod with a smartphone mount. You can also get someone to take the picture for you.

How To Take Your Full Length Shot

THE DO's

  • Nice Casual Clothing

  • Well lit, cleam

  • Solid background

  • Clear view of top of the head

  • Cut at the knees / Not head to toe

This picture was also taken in my apartment.  I used a light source to properly light the individual.  I did not want to use the blue

backdrop I use for my self-tape auditions because I wanted to provide an example of a background that is easily accessible and show that a solid coloured area work just fine.  Do not get intimidated if you do not have "professional" equipment.  The "model" is wearing NICE CASUAL clothing that gives an idea of his body shape.  A tripod was not used for this photo, I took it by holding the phone as steady as I could.
